Critical illness, unfortunately, can follow complex operations, emergent procedures and traumatic episodes. Our team of Surgical Critical Care experts is dedicated to minimizing the risk of further complications for patients experiencing acute, life-threatening or potentially life-threatening surgical conditions.
Surgical intensivists, stationed in our dedicated 16-bed surgical Intensive Care Unit, care for those that become ill both before and after their operation. Multi-disciplinary care is facilitated by the physician (intensivist), surgical house-staff, critical care pharmacist, respiratory therapist, dietician and experienced nursing staff.
Each of our four surgical intensivists are boarded in surgical critical care by the American Board of Surgery.
